Mamaroneck might have had its hands full with a tough non-section opponent on Saturday, but if the Tigers showed anything, it’s that they’re always up for a challenge.
On April 6, the Tigers welcomed Connecticut powerhouse Greenwich to Memorial Field. And even though it took everything they could muster, the hosts emerged victorious, getting a goal from Luke Brennan in the final seconds to lift the Tigers to a hard-fought 10-9 win. 
Finding himself with the ball at the point with time running out, Brennan—who had not tallied a goal on the day heading into the final position—chose his moment and fired a low, hard shot that beat the Greenwich goalie to put his team on top for good.
According to Brennan, the conversion gave him a chance to put his stamp on a signature win for the Tigers
“We were supposed to hold on to the ball, as long as we could, but I saw the shot and I took it,” said Brennan. “I saw that time was running out and I was just thinking about how I needed to do my part so I didn’t let my teammates down.”
The Tigers put together a balanced effort on the day, with three players—Jude Miesner, Carsen Winters and Nate Kulish each finding the net two times on the afternoon. But despite an early lead, the Tigers found themselves in a precarious position in the second half when Greenwich roared back to take control of the game.
But a few timely stops proved the difference-maker as Mamaroneck was able to stem the tide and climb back on top with Brennan’s last second goal.
“We played a really good game today, from our goalies keeping them under 10 points to everyone else,” said Brennan. “Everybody contributed to this win.”
The victory was an important one for the Tigers, who also fell to another Connecticut powerhouse in New Canaan last week, giving them the confidence they will need to take on some of their tougher opponents this year.
“We have a lot of games against good teams, but in our section and from Connecticut this year,” said Brennan. “I think getting a win like this helps because it shows we can compete with anyone and kind of sets the tone for what we want to accomplish this year.”
